Description
The Fucina degli Dei is accessible easily enough. Once arriving at the crater’s peak you are taken aback by the pungent smell of sulphurous gas; in fact there are numerous fumaroles and sulphur mines.
Excursion to the top of Vulcano between smells of sulfur dioxide and scents of gorse and sea.
The lunar landscape still shows traces of the last volcanic eruptions (explosions and solidified lava). During the descent a stop at the hot mud pools is advised.
